Spiral fire escape fabricated in mild steel, galvanised, painted black and installed in Leeds, West Yorkshire (09)
Summary of Terms A fire escape is a special kind of emergency exit, usually mounted to the outside of a building or inside, separate from the main areas of the building.
Galvanizing is the process of coating steel with a thin zinc layer. When exposed to the atmosphere, the zinc layer reacts with oxygen to form zinc oxide then carbonate. This material limits corrosion and protects the steel.
Powder Coating is a dry coating applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. Powder coating does not require a solvent and is applied electrostatically and is then cured under heat. It is usually used to create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint.
